I saw a trailer a few years back. A quick search on the site reveals the original firefight. How's the new firefight going?

Swell. Although I maybe wrong but I think mooseguy has taken a step back from the project. (it being open season and all)

At the moment it is mainly pepzee and spiral who are knee deep in the development.

Hi there! This place has changed a lot these past two years. And this was one of the few maps I was eagerly awaiting.

Any chance of getting a release date? If not then I'm cool with that as well :P

You'd have to ask the developers. Though since they have declined to give a release date thus far. (and for good reason) I don't believe they would be inclined to give out an E.T.A now.

Life things have unfortunately overwhelmed my schedule, therefore I have had to step back from Halo CE in general. That said, Pepzee and Spiral are continuing to do an amazing job on development for Firefight Portent II. Pepzee can likely give a better update on where it is now.

Oh I thought it was cancelled, this is great news! I loved the original.

What tagset is it using?

At the moment there is no active development on Portent II. We are focusing our resources elsewhere.

For Portent II to continue development, I need a BSP person that has a lot of free time and is able to change the original Portent BSP. The reason why the project failed was largely due to problems with encounters on the BSP. While the "team" that I have now does have a BSP person, he is currently busy working on something else. Furthermore, I'm unsure how much of the "team" would be willing to continue on with Portent II, Spiral has stated he wants to spend more time on his project "Heretic Hunt".

Once the current project we are working on is complete, I will reevaluate Portent II and see if it is a project that can be realistically completed. I still have all of the map data files, however I'd probably start over from scratch. Don't expect anything soon though.

1 problem I have with the portent map is that it's so awesome already how would one even approach to making it better?

It would scenario be similar to replacing dennis.

Why are you such a suck up to users on this forum that have been here longer than you? Like holy crap, even when I first joined in this forum. I always called out people for the stupid things they say, no matter what their join date is.

For every time dennis has to deal we stressy people on the forum he probably get's stressed. Every time he see's a compliment it might relieve the stress.

I'm pretty much taking care of Dennis's stress level right now. This way Halomaps live's longer & we get a more or less decent moderator for another century to come.

It's a downright disgrace dennis hasn't been awarded the noble peace prize yet.

Thanks for proving my point about you and Dennis is probably having a good laugh at your expense.

I really don't understand your sourness. I've narrowed down your angry persona to two things:

1. You probably aren't appreciated enough in your current environment, therefore you take out your suffering on others.

2. There is too much sugar in your diet.

For now I have a patch for the first possible problem you may be experiencing.

And that is:

Your looking great today Frosty! I particularly like the way your eyes glint in the summer morn.

I'd be willing to try and edit the BSP, Would you be willing to give me data files for portent II and I could take a swing at it?

It'd be easier to reset then to take what was left of Portent II

What tagset was it? I don't have access to private tagsets, therfor I doubt making tagsets from scratch as in me not knowing how to rig a fp weapon would be beneficial, if you have the tagset that might help, I can edit BSPS and create them, not rigging FP weapons, not yet. still learning. Still acquiring more hard drives.

So far I have around 12 4TB usb 3.0 hard drives.

This is so true. The Portent II tagset became a convoluted mess over two years of development. I can't even find my way around it anymore.

Portent II used the mostly the same tagset as Firefight Descent, so that's where you'll find everything.

Alright thank you for the info, as to sparky, so many copies in case of corruption. Drives can fail.

I like how an argument starts up on a thread, then abruptly ends in the same fashion xD

Also, I agree with SS Flanker. It isn't about sucking up to someone. It's respect for what they're putting their precious time into. Don't forget that Dennis could shut this whole thing down in a second if he wanted/had to.

Personally, I believe he deserves some kind words after all the 5h1t he gets.
Also this: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/dennis-powers/
Read all these articles to know exactly who Dennis is and what problems he's faced in general.

Um, 48TB is a bit overkill, maybe? :P

Its sad that you guys haven't been able to do much for Portent II... I was literally drooling in anticipation over that one. And the last time I drooled over a map, it was Lumoria...

Cheers!

I don't think posting links about someone's personal life on a forum about a video game isn't ideal, but damn, its hard to imagine how some people are living outside the computer screen. Also the fact that Dennis is in his 60's and manages to fit in with the halo crowd is very interesting.

I dunno what age has to do with anything.

At this point I think I might be starting to become one of the older members in the community...

Hopefully we'll have something else to show at some point in the future that will be exciting.

Well, It's just a few news articles. I just put it on here so people can understand that he deserves respect.
And if its wrong, forgive me, oh mighty Dennis xP
