What exactly does HAC 2 do for BSPs, allow compiling of larger maps or displaying ingame? I don't quite understand.

Also, HAC 2 compatability with OS 4.0, are there any download links from a trusted source?

Allows for double the polygons, double the decals, and quadruple the objects to be shown in game.
It is somewhat compatible with OS, "Hac 2 OS fix" topic on this forum has the download link. It is posted by Btcc22, the dev, so you can trust it.
Hac 2 is client side only. It has nothing to do with the HEK

Here's its temporary site http://hac2.opencarnage.net/

For multiplayer, HAC 2 is better. It stops highly detailed maps bugging out. It allows for bookmarks and map downloading.
For singleplayer, OS is better. It gives SECKSI graphics.

If you wanna disable OS to use hac2, remove dinput8.dll from halo ce directory
If you wanna disable Hac2 to use OS, remove loader.dll from halo ce controls folder.

Hac 2 should ALWAYS be used with Halo PC as there are simply no drawbacks to using it. Hac 2 in essence is an unofficial patch.

Alright, Hac2 definitely does not work with OS even with the compatability fix, everytime you leave a server, it crashes the game, and not only that the FOV and widescreen fix break things. I'm going to try HAC 2 without OS and see what its like, I honestly so far am liking opensauce better. However, its not fair to judge one without trying the working version of the other.

I honestly do not see the appeal in HAC 2, What is so special about it? I'm not bashing it, I just want to know what makes it so amazing?

It's just 10 times better if you play MP often and not SP but, if you play SP, OS is obviously better. It's just that simple and that's why many people have two installs of Halo CE.

And just in case, if someone thinks that OS can be better than HAC 2 in utility for someone that plays MP, I'm just not taking that seriously. Just in case.

I never really play multiplayer, I'll go on LAN to test out maps and whatnot, but I don't usually join peoples servers etc. *shrugs* if I do, I'll definitely use HAC 2. Things that I see that are good about HAC 2, BSP changes, caching system, and widescreen fix if it works, gotta take a look at that.

Btcc22 unfortunately asked that we take down our hostname associated with HAC2.

Why?

He seems upset that we just moved to a new hosting provider, because he was our previous one.

Because his provider is so good amirite....

Also, the scaling is great if the maps are designed in a way to handle it. For instance bigass HUD scales wonderfully, revolution HUD is designed from the ground up around a 1920x1080 screen using the hac2 HUD scaling, so it will look funky without it. Fortunately its as easy as a console command to switch on and off :P

So is there an official site for HAC and HAC2 or?

It honestly seems like something that should have been kept private, but instead it now turned into a situation that has gotten out of hand more or less.

Half of the posts in this thread should not have even been posted.

It does't link to the op topic that well and its generally just a huge waste of time scrolling through the civilised fist fight in the hope of finding something of actual assistance.

I have shut down the server hosting the website for the time being. So none of this links will be working anymore.

Edit:
Quote: --- Original message by: Btcc22
People were under the impression that the OC subdomain was the new official HAC2 site, which it's not. It was done without my knowledge.

A month ago I asked Btcc22 if I could host a site the I designed for him a while back so people could have a place to download and fine all the packs and the manual to it. I can't remember exactly what he said but its was something like okay.

So I spent a couple hours to get a system setup and ready to host it (even though I did not have a domain name for it so for a while it was just at http://198.71.82.18/.) After doing so I was approached by POQ-Technut and he asked if I would like a to have a link under hac2.poqclan.com and then after posting about it on Open Carnage, Tucker offered to do the same thing (at hac2.opencarnage.net) and me thinking it would be better not to have a clan name behind it, I said okay (even though technut had already made his.) I never meant for it to be seen as associated with poqclan or opencarnage and I am sorry for any confusion I may have caused and am also sorry I didn't think much of it at the time as well.

In the end, it's just words, but I have the individuals that have been witness to everything I've said here, while you have no one on your side in regards to this.

hahaha whoa guys watch out, he's been in these situations before. he's even got witnesses. that must definitely solidify every claim of his as being right!

piss off with your "witnesses" garbage. you sound like you're writing a statement for some kind of crime, as if anyone's going to care about anything OpenCarnage-related when everyone here is just concerned about HAC 2 and its creator

You should be proud. Bungie LLC is becoming the next L28.
Though your grammar has always been far superior to his, and you are actually an intelligent person.

Basically what I'm saying is that Bungie LLC is the "retard" version of you.

I can and will stop all three of you from continuing this measuring contest. At least in this forum. Take it elsewhere or begone.
