I believe that effect was a byproduct of the fog produced by the d20 sky I used in the map Matthew.

The blandness doesn't really bother me too much it's self to be honest since the fog acts as a natural concealer masking you from snipers e.t.c

rasterizer_fog_atmosphere 0
rasterizer_fog_plane 0

And you have total dominance in the map, while everyone looks like they're running around like blind mice, trying to find snipers.

So what's the polycount with HAC2? I want more info on the extra rendering goodies it provides. A certain map of mine might go well over 32k triangles.

If Altis worked off the original port that me and mike did the bsp is optimized as fuq....

It was on the limits when we last worked on it so idk if Altis did more once the last parts of the bsp were added in

It is VERY optimized. I'd honestly make use of portals and up the count a bit.

I really don't think that higher poly count is worth the effort.

one thing I noticed was everything being done via text commands. Does that mean there's things that are going to be server specific or what?

Also, im finding that Altis has a very similar taste in music as me lol

Saved objects are server specific, unless the save file is distributed online.

It's entirely feasible to create a 32k bsp without the assistance of hac2 however for a multiplayer map I wouldn't recommend stepping over that threshold.

HAC2 doesn't have anything to do with creating the BSP. It's a just a means of ensuring that it won't start disappearing if the engine tries to render more than 16k BSP polys at once.

Those forge objects ... anyone put them into Sapien as Scenery Tags already?

If you were to do stuff in Sapien you'd be better off removing stuff from the BSP that you don't use and have the structures be BSP because it will be a separate map file anyway.

I do understand the exciting thing about in-server modifying of maps, like multiple guys working on the same map Minecraft style, but to me it seems kinda cumbersome considering the existence of Sapien, something console owners never had.

And editing the BSP directly with 3dsmax is a little more complex compared to just opening a scenario file with Sapien and putting down scenery to quickly create something fresh that is fun to play for an evening or two.

I always wished for some kind of Forge for Sapien with lots of scenery tags and this project looks so perfect and exactly what I have imagined if it were just in Sapien instead of live editing on a server.

Maybe this is something that could be quickly thrown together as a variation of this project?
Just a suggestion. Not meant as criticism.

Just add scenery it's more or less the same as forge.

or...you know...just rip the map and use sapien....or extract the scenery and put in a new map and use sapien....or just make sapien...

will you have a sort of forge menu instead of using the console?

I don't think so. Right now everything is done with hotkeys, for example, you have to press alt + num1 to choose bridge object, alt + num2 to choose bridge diag object etc. It's pretty easy once you get used to it and you will be able to configure hotkeys yourself.

Honestly, when I saw the video of Forge World. You had my jaw dropped big time from seeing CE3 video of it. I cannot believe this is even possible for syncing structure positions (even created & deletion!) to client side! Keep it up and try not to overkill my hype seeing new update for other than structures possibility.

If UI widgets can integrate SAPP scripts, then you got your forge.

Well giraffe did that with testrun but that way everyone would know server's rcon. (I think)

You could get the rcon password from the map's scripts if you wanted to, but I can assure you that "abc123" is not the real password. In fact there is no password. Even still, I don't mind messing with people who think that I would really have that as the password.

Make sure to add the Golf Hole or whatever it's called so we can make custom grass areas. :3

Thanks to Killzone I found out why autohotkey wasn't working for some people in Halo. That's one step closer to public beta I guess.
