Dennis, you earn money con the site only by adversting? Its rentable?
The revenue generated by the google ads on the site do not cover the cost of operation.

I don't know why people think this but Ad revenue is not some gold mine. The amount of money one gets back from traffic is incredibly low unless you have sponsor deals and the like.

Anyways big ups to Dennis for doing the community such a huge service all these years.

I don't know if its me but I think less users come here now and I rememberd before it was so active until Halo Online shown up or halo 5, perhaps thats a reason that this forum is dieing.

SO I was reading this and suddenly my turtle fell from it's rock and ended up on its back. So I stood up and was like "turtle do you need help?" and I extended my arm but the turtle looked at me and said "Nope, everything will be fine." and got back up.

I was like "You are a very wise man turtle" and she was like "Yes." and she is a girl.

Chin chin.

I agree.

I think the donations he receives (if any) yield less revenue than from ads.

Did people forget that Dennis owns and manages a server hosting company? That's where the majority of his revenue generates.

His company is bleeding money.

Well fug.
There isn't a single person who posts in this forum that has anything to do with or knows anything about UXB Internet or even what we do. raffgie assertion has as much credibility as the person's that accused him of bestiality.

In 2004 Halo Custom Edition was declared dead and buried soon to be forgotten, a stillbirth of a game.

Make of that what you will, but if that was indeed true then Halo CE is a zombie game destined to keep wandering around infecting people with the fun they can have with it.

He answers that in this interview. I think it was that his niece wanted to find a place to find all the custom maps or something, so he started the site.
Edit: Nephew not niece

I'm sure getting worked up over fabricated opinions was quite fun indeed, but I wouldn't consider it trolling.

That response seems like you've given up. You're not as uptight as you once were, and that's why I've lost interest in messing with you.

I'm pretty sure this game and website have been in a constant state of closing down since about 2008.

I'll get back to you on that in 2020.

I'd like to follow up on this comment as we are quickly approaching 2020. Much has changed since this comment was made in 2015 and this site does not appear as active as it once was. How long do you intend to keep Halomaps open? The past 15 years you have hosted this site is impressive and I am very grateful for all that you have provided.

I hope you enjoy your holidays.

This does start to get me curious as to your reasoning and thought process as to why. Care to elaborate as to satisfy a curious soul?

(PM'ing me is fine too if reasons are not wanting to be shown in public)

What kind of curiousity goes, "Hey you know that site you run that we're talking on right now? Why isn't it closed yet?"

Unfortunately, that reality is impossible.

One day Dennis will retire (hopefully he wants to and is able to) from his company and I highly doubt anybody else at UXB wants to keep this site running.

I am glad to hear that there are no plans to shutdown the site for this year. I still use the site regularly to download maps. I do hope when the time comes for the site to be shut down that it will be communicated in advance rather than finding out via a 404 page.
