As proposed here, OpenCarnage.net is opening up support for content requests. This offers individuals a means of seeking new content outside of their capability, and rewards those who fulfill such requests with chances at $20 (via PayPal), with a guaranteed winner every month.

How do these "chances" work?
It's a raffle system, where the only way to attain tickets is to make specific contributions, such as fulfilling content requests. All ticket earnings are recorded publicly, and the amount you earn varies depending on the contribution, each of which are globally defined.

Can we really promise $20 every month?
We've been running this raffle for over a year and have delivered without fail every time, which is recorded here in our raffle topic. Expanding our support in this area doesn't cost us anything extra; it just offers a new means for people to win tickets.

Do those who submit requests have to pay? How will you know whether or not someone is just pulling your leg? (Say someone said "I want 5 detailed weapon models" and they are never heard from again?)

I had more questions to ask when I started this post, but I had 30 minutes of sleep last night and the questions slipped away.

Oh yeah, I wanted to know what the typical completion average was. That is to say, how often are peoples' requests completed?

its a raffle, you get points for said raffle, its not guaranteed to give you money, but even if you don't, i mean, you did something cool i guess.

Requesters don't have to pay anything, and only one request can be made per topic. There's no reason for someone to not credit someone for their work, because it doesn't cost them anything to do so. But if someone becomes problematic, they'll be dealt with.

Before now, we've only supported server script requests, which as you can see, have had more than a 90% fulfillment rate.

The procedures topic pinned at the top of the section best describes it: http://opencarnage.net/index.php?/topic/5658-content-request-procedures/

This sounds pretty darn cool. I just might do this when I need some content created. I've got some ideas.

Isn't this like selling Halo assets for money? This feels like a legal gray zone.

It's much like Dennis paying for HaloMaps, which hosts Halo content. He's paying for a utility that everyone can use for free. He's not selling content, but he is paying for its distribution.

And as far as I can tell, no Halo content is being sold (unless it obviously is).

I wouldn't say so, either. There's no direct monetary gain - someone could fulfill a request and still damn very well lose the raffle.

Tark raises a good point.

Will there be a dedicated team of people in charge of monitoring assets to insure that they are not just being re-distributed over and over?

I did?
Nice, I wasn't expecting that!

Why are you surprised? Not a moment passes me by that I am being told of your unparalleled abilities to raise certain objects no one else could ever hope to lift..... let alone possess.

It will be investigated as they come out.

Of those interested in potentially fulfilling requests, what areas of work are you capable within?

That's probably something you should ask as they come. You might not learn much from asking here, probably only a few will respond and even less will fulfill any requests.

Those that have mentioned their interest in my original topic for this aren't registered, and I imagine they're just waiting until they see something they're capable of. So I'm asking here in hopes that I can help point out pertinent requests to interested individuals, since they're not likely already in the habit of checking the section.

Definitely. You just can't fulfill your own requests to receive tickets. =p

So far one person from here has made a new request, which was fulfilled to the requester's satisfaction in less than 6 hours.

The options consist of models, rigging, animations, textures, physics, effects, HUD elements, and server scripts.

If you can think of anything you need, come try it out!

As far as other content goes, there seems to be a relative abundance of people willing to fulfill requests, and very few that have something to request.

That's really not something I expected..

If only the real world adopted that principle.

A model request has just been made, if anyone is interested: http://opencarnage.net/index.php?/forum/60-halo-content-requests/

The ticket earnings for such a request is 20, which is the most substantial number you can earn by single means anywhere on the forum.

I'm just really curious, but are you keeping track of the statistics of all these content requests at all, by any chance?
(The types of requests made, types and percentages fulfilled, time it takes to be fulfilled, likelihood of getting the winning raffle ticket, etc)

Earnings are recorded publicly in our raffle topic, including how and where they were earned. But once the raffle period is over (after a winner is drawn), only the final tallies are recorded, as you can see linked as "standings" next to every winner in Hall of Fame. The likelihood of winning of course depends on everyone else's earnings, but since it's public information, anyone is free to calculate that.

The latest raffle period just ended yesterday, which is why you wont yet see any current tallies recorded yet, but you can check a cached version of that page from earlier this month, to see how they're recorded: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:http://opencarnage.net/index.php?/topic/4102-raffle-tallies-and-winners/
