Ok seriously this whole 'unknown error' BS I always encounter whilst trying to make my own model or texture is really starting to piss me off. All I can do is edit base game things and or make minor alterations.

Anyway, I followed 2 Youtube tutorials and 2 tutorials off of this forum and as usual I hit brick walls of utter failure.

I edited the base game bitmap for the pickup icons and added EVERY HALO 3, ODST AND REACH icons to the massive list. Once you check out the icons in Guerrilla all you see is a blank white square and in game everything reads "hold E to pick up <nothing>" <nothing> being literally nothing there, formally where the icons used to be.

Can I upload my TIF of unified icons somewhere and someone who actually has better luck, skill and patience turn it into a WORKING pickup icon bitmap?

Much appreciated.

Are you still trying this with Paint.net?

To compile with alpha maps, build the bitmap using

Tool bitmaps noobmodder117/bitmaps/your_directory

NOW, open the bitmap tag in guerilla and change the type to be interpolated alpha.

Now, run tool bitmaps again.

Tool reads the bitmap tag's type and builds the bitmap based on that. The default type is basically black and white for the alpha; either its 100% transparent or 100% opaque.

If youre doing this right, it should be a flat white foreground with the icon in the alpha. That would explain why its compiling incorrectly and giving you a white box.

WTF! I never knew Tool would create a different variant of something if you changed a tag in Guerrilla. I thought it only looked at what is in data and data only.

Ok now I got a list of all my icons. They look a little fuzzy though AND the new ones are all white and don't look like right in the texture viewer.

I'm assuming I have to set up the bitmap in Guerrilla to be like the original hud_pickup_icons tag? Change 2D to sprite etc?

I'll have a play with it now. Yes I used GIMP. It was free. AND followed tutorials to perfection...

EDIT: Ok what do I have to put in every box in the tag? The icons do not show up the game states: Hold E to pickup <empty space where icons should be> there is nothing there.

Type: sprites

Format: compressed with interpolated

Usage: default
>Flags: none

Post Processing: All values are 0

Sprite Processing
>Size: 512x512
>Count: 80

Misc: All values are 0

Bitmaps: 0 bitmap data block
>Flags: power of 2 and compressed

If I need to add sequences, I've looked everywhere previously and found nothing. I know Kornman can add sequences but uh I didn't see anything anywhere to make a reference to specific icons so...

EDIT 2: Ok this is total BS. I've tried everything. I've copied all the variables and settings in the default icons tag. Any significant changes causes Guerrilla to crash and the game to get exception data.

Can I just upload the tag and data and you or someone else here can fix this? I don't have time to do this.

Sorry umm this question will probably be easier to answer/solve...

How do I go about sending over/uploading my stuff?

I've packed up everything into a rar (pretty small) now I just need to find out if I send it via PM or upload it straight to this site or something...

Upload it to a file hosting site and post the link to it here.

You don't happen to know of any hassle free sites that are simple and don't require accounts etc?

Thanks for the help so far guys.

Hey guys unless someone ends up fixing this themselves and releases it or whatever, if there is something wrong with the tag, do please let me know what I have to change in Guerrilla...

Much appreciated.

"They need to be a power of..." Do you mean every little icon I paste into the icon template needs to be the power of those??? Like I have to go all the way back to the GIMP stage? So its not tag related?
