im creating a modded weapon set for use in any maps i will make in the future. some of it is highly based off of halo 3. heres the list, please give any thoughts/criticism

assualt rifle: made to fight like the halo 3 rifle. powerful, with a 32 round clip and enhanced accuracy. not headshot capable

battle rifle: has a slowed rate of fire, but very powerful rounds. it can take down a spartan in 3 body shots, but is only useful in medium range. NOTE: has a VERY slow rate of fire... non headshot capable

m6g pistol: has an enhanced rate of fire, but weakened rounds. headhsot capable, only when enemies shields are down. takes 4 headshots to kill with shields up.

shotgun: 6 round magazine. normal rate of fire, slightly less spread

rocket launcher: slowed rate of fire, enhanced projectile velocity. does NOT track the enemy in or out of vehicles

m7 sub machine gun: 20 rounds per second ROF with a 60 round clip. used for close range suppression

satchel grenade: three compound mini-frags in one. you throw, they fly, and make minor explosions. good for destroying enemy vehicles, as they explode on impact

frag grenade: un modified

sniper rifle: im going to modify this... but i cant figure out how to do it with out over/under powering it. dont worry ill work it out.

flamethrower: will have longer ranged flames, and a larger fuel tank flames will be less damaging

ill post covenant weaponry later. i just want a public opinion.


things i will NOT consider making

nuke guns
unbalanced weapons
vehicle mods (yet)

frankly, the only spartan laser tags ill ever get my hands on are m6deeps. and i dont know if i want to mod that at all yet. i probably wont even know how for a while... but i wouldnt mod it without his, and all who worked on its, permission

I like most of the ideas except for the BR, just sounds a little bit over powered. people already own enough with the BR, but it could be okay. I would depend on seeing the ROF in game though, so it might be cool.

some ideas:

make the sniper rifle like a bolt action rifle, have it with a 1 shot clip so you have to reload between shots. this would cut down on those who only use the sniper. It would make players have to really aim.

the PP, make it have less charge time and maybe up it's damage just a bit. having less charge time would make it a better and more useful weapon. it's my fav weapon but it's a pain in the butt to try and kill someone just using it.

the Plasma Rifle, see if you can up it's stun effect. Not sure if that can be done but perhaps?

It can be, its in the damage effect tag, and in globals you may have to turn up the max time if it is more than 1.25 seconds of stun...

what if you made the PP charge stun the person so it can be used more in objective game types so if the person is running with the flag you can charge a shot at him and it will slow him down for a second.

halo 3 AR isnt headshotable. and i havent begun working on plasma weapons but i absolutly intend to work on the plasma pistols charge shot. it should have enhanced homing abilities and more speed, but its power i havent decided what im gonna do with it. sniper, im not sure what to do with yet. i may leave it unmodded but i doubt it

did you see my idea for the sniper rifle above?

but ill repeat it.

since the sniper rifle in alot of maps is totally over used i had an idea, though not sure if you like it.

i suggested making the sniper rifle have a 1 shot clip, so basically after each shot you got to reload. this would make it like a bolt action sniper rifle. it might ballance the weapon out more.

i just tossed out my idea, i would not suprize me if you did not like it. see i hate the sniper rifle so of course i want to reduce it as a gameplay faster as much as possiable.

don't change the fireing speed, it shoots fast enough as is

a 1 hit kill sniper rifle would ruin play, i agree with iron on that.

not really though. there are many ways you can change halo weapons and still make then balanced. it depends on his other weapons and how he wants the ballance to be. By all means someone could use my idea and still have a ballanced weapons set. as well as your idea depending on how the other weapons were done.

to me a ballanced sniper rifle would be what i suggested, but yet to others it may be unballanced to them.

it depends on the other weapons and the weapon placement in a map what really equals ballance.

just cause you take something away from a weapon does not really mean you got to give it something. as well as giving a weapon something does not mean you have to take something away either. you can still have balanced weapons that way.

i don't know i have seen alot of bad snipers, sometimes you can dodge a snipers shot everytime if they suck.

i don't use the sniper cause when i do i can't kill with it very well.

alright... but my grenades im having trouble with. i decided it wouldnt be the end of the world to replace frags with satchel bombs, but really it is hard to mod grenades and have them come out right. lol

yes i heard about your satchel nades, sounds fun. Of course you will limit their placement but i think it might be good for taking out vehicles especially if they explode on impact.

your becoming quite a good modder

like with your first mod..if you need a tester i am game.

thanks man. the trick with satchel nades though is making three at once. im not sure how i can do it really... but i wont give up, if i do fail in making a trio of nades in one throw ill give it some other ability...

you could increase the blast radius or something? Or just make them more powerful to equal the power of three nades.

did you ever decide on how your going to mod the sniper rifle yet?

I think the trail is a good thing, makes it so people can't just get in a corner and noob with it. I think it's important to be able to determine where the sniper was at. you need to have a chance to dodge it.

most good snipers can get a moving target within 2 shots. LOL but i am not a good sniper at all i usually waste a clip and a half trying to get a moving target.

making the speed faster and reduceing the clip size would probably be the most sensible mod
