The Ma5K is in desperate need of an ammo counter. It looks like I'm holding some modelling clay in my hands without one.

Your fun fact of the day is that the M41A Pulse Rifle from Aliens is actually a dressed up Thompson submachine gun with an underslung Remington 870.

The MA5K is supposed to be minimalistic, hence the absence of an ammo counter. It's the lighter, more compact alternative to the assault rifle.


The Halo wiki says it takes nine bullets to drain shields with the battle rifle in Halo 3, plus a headshot to finish them off. I didn't see how many shots to the torso it takes to dispatch an unshielded player, though.


I feel like the shotgun's projectiles disappear at too short a range, although this may be lag or user error on my part.

Until we can find a good reason to have it in game play, there's no point. It's functionality has been folded into the BR, AR and Carbine these days.

Wasn't the only purpose of it for dual wielding because dual wielding the AR would be to OP so they needed a less powerful fully automatic weapon?

Canonically, the purpose of the MA5K was simply for it to be used as a more compact version of the MA5 assault rifles, much the same as the M4 carbine is a more compact version of the M16 series of assault rifles. I don't think it was intended to be a weapon for dual-weilding. The SMG, however, was. At least in-game.

I've been looking for some multiplayer-capable Marines with color change permutations, but I'm afraid I'm not a big fan of the scales on the armor.

I also feel like the medic's armor should be more white than black, perhaps with a red cross insignia against a white field on the chestplate.

I have color change bitmaps but they're not really in an acceptable state at the moment.

If you could get them into an acceptable state, I'd appreciate them if you were willing to share.

Since the F2000 has optics mounted where the ammo counter would be on the MA5, it doesn't need a higher cheek rest. Since the MA5 features pop-up iron sights on top of the cowling that houses the ammo counter, though, it makes sense that it has a relatively high cheek rest.

Because that would give you the impression that all it takes to get what you want is to complain hard enough. I believe this is not behavior that anyone wants to encourage.

I like the subtle camo effect on the AR's cowling. The weapon itself looks pretty good, although a tad more "rounded" as people have pointed out. I don't think this is necessarily a bad thing, though; smoother corners look more ergonomic.

I think it could use a trigger guard, though.

That's incredibly impractical. You would be better off balancing them off with one carrying a laser or hmg with the other carrying rockets with a shotgun secondary. Also, since Hawthorne is the player, give them the role of assault unit to give more variety canonically in terms of weapon choice.

Explosive shotgun rounds already exist. The one in the image is a Frag-12, but since the Halo shotgun is an 8 gauge, it'd be a bit more... explodey.

As its own weapon, 30-round mags would make sense, but if it was being used as an analogue to the SMG, I think they could get away with bumping up the magazine capacity: the stock and magazine seem to be of similar dimensions to that of the MA5B, and they manage to fit sixty rounds in there... somehow.

Fun fact: The first working railgun was built in 1944 by a member of the German Ordnance Office. An anti-aircraft version was proposed, but never built.

Because in Halo 3, you spend a few missions on Earth, so having the Army around would make sense. I believe they're still Marines throughout Halo 3, though, while the Army only appears in Halo: Reach.

M6D is like glorious Kalasnikov. There's not much reason to drastically alter something that most everyone agrees to be a good weapon.

I like that it now has a sort of machine pistol functionality for close-quarters, though. That should be interesting.
