Hey, after a while out i am trying to get back into some halo mapping, starting by just playing around with modifying some stock maps

So i extracted bloodgulch with hekplus, made a new .senario and added the structure_bsp and sky then opened it in sapien and added some weapons and vehicles (m16, needle ghosts and H3 mongoose's to be precise) and then compiled it with tool, and after finding a few missing files it compiled fine, so i went to load it and halo just crashes (goes to the "gathering exception data" message)

i'm a little confused as to why this is happening, as doing this (with bloodgulch, and other stock and user created maps) has always worked just fine in the past

Edit: Fixed it, something was screwed up with globals.globals (even tho i just changed the vehicles in it)
re exacted it from bloodgulch, edited it again and the map worked fine

i have been playing around with it, i would just like to use sketchup as a starting point, also nice that i can use it in osx on my macbook whereas to use gmax i have to boot into winxp, although i guess it's a small price to pay if i have to boot into winxp to compile it.

I guess your right tho, just invest some time to learn gmax, also quick question, how do i judge hight when using a 3d modeling program (ie how do i know how big something is going to be in the final map)

ok, i am a complete noob when it comes to making the bsp's for maps, to start off with i would like to use GoogleSketchUp, from what i understand it is possible if i make it in SketchUp, then move it into gmax, close the edges and link it to a frame, all i need to know is how to get gmax to close the edges.

Os me and my freinds where playing rpg beta 5 final and we thourght it would be batterin i added a few more verchicles, which wouldn't usually be a problem, i have extracted the map but sapien crashes every time i open it with one of 2 errors

i don't usually have problems with sapien but this compleatley stumps me

found it:
There is a limit of 6 vehicles being spawned at a time in a map. No more than 6 can be loaded at a time, unless you script the vehicles in.

Scripting the vehicles in will make it so the vehicles WILL spawn, and they don't count towards the limit.

Make a script (if you don't have one already) and put this line in:

(script startup create_vehicles
(object_create vehicle1)
(object_create vehicle2)
(object_create vehicle3)
)



Where vehicles 1 to 3 are your vehicles you want to be spawned. You can add more than three, I just stopped at three.

Two commands exist that are similar in naming but are actually different.

"object_create" creates an object, even if the object in question already exist. This makes another of the same vehicle without deleting the old one.

"object_create_anew" will delete any old listed objects present in the map, then spawn that object. This removes an older listed object and creates a new one.

Since this script is a startup script, it doesn't need to do object_create_anew since these objects haven't been made yet.

If someone has the phynum player counting script handy, I could also show a respawning vehicles script, if needed.

i was playing the map "extinction" and couldn't help noticing there where more than 6 vehicles, i took a look at the globles.globles file from it and only 6 of the verhicles where in it, how is this done?

so i got the guide to add ai to my maps, tried it with a biped i downloaded of the internet and it worked fine (came with the actor varient file), then i got another biped but this one didn't come with the actor varient file so how do you make the actor varient file?

well i deleted some old tags from the map to make it small enough to compile normelly but if it goes over again ill give tool pro a shot :-)
