I'll be annoyed as hell If the map is so big because of Gaigher's obsession with his secret rooms full of porn.
If it is, just give us a version that doesn't have the secret room so it's a smaller file size and everyone can be happy.

This is what I thought of With Whiteness

Pros-

  • It's a well thought out map (gameplay wise).

  • It's got a good set of tags (there have been many a map ruined by bad tags)

  • The particle effects (especially for the Chopper and Ghost) are amazing.

  • The forerunner doors are exceptionally good they're the best forerunner doors I've seen in CE.


Cons-

  • The map file is 795mb! This seems way to big for what's in it.

  • The Shade turrets firing system is bad with how each mouse button controls one cannon.


Suggestions-

  • Increase the fire rate of the Chopper's cannons they seem way to slow compared to how it's like in Halo 3

  • Maybe you should have different animations for the Battle Rifle because it looks pretty bad being held with the current animations

  • If you could (you don't have to) get High resolution reticules for the HUD it just would make it look so much better.

Speaking of nerfing, I decided to re-download and play the original portent and I realised how OP the battlerifle is in it. It has like an in-built aimbot and it's bullets can penetrate.


It's sent down after you've killed the hunters.
I agree with Hilaris if anything this should be featured in B40 to replace the tank. I don't like the idea of just randomly putting in the mantis and only using it for 5 minutes so you can just shoot down some phantoms and then ditch it. Not exactly what I think mantis should be used for in my opinion.

That's still up in the air right now.
The main issue is the simple fact that there don't seem to be any good H2 marines around (at the quality level of the original Portent's).

If anyone has and/or is willing to donate some H2 marine tags (including Johnson if possible), that would be super duper awesome and appreciated.

What made you decide to use Halo 2 marines instead of the ODSTs allies you used in Descent?
To make it more like the original Portent?

Yes Pirating Halo would be Illegal because you didn't buy it.

You need Halo Custom Edition not Halo 1 if you want to mod which you can download here: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=410 But you also need to download halo 1 update 1.09 so just search for that on the web.
But you still need a Halo 1 CD key to play Halo Custom Edition.
I'm thinking your getting a little confused with what Custom Edition can do, Custom Edition can only play custom maps it can't make maps, or import assets etc. For that you need HEK (Halo Editing Kit) just search on the website for it.

You can use whatever modelling program you want but I would recommend 3dsmax because it's more compatible with modding Halo and importing models (my opinion not sure if I'm 100% accurate on this one)
