You can't (without setting a new tag directory in OS' OS_Settings.Editor.xml file), but that's ok because you shouldn't need to. The main point of the copied folder is just to provide an environment for you to actually record them. Then you inject the data with the app that does it (Anim Recorded Editor.exe) into any .scenario that you would use with your main directory anyway.
Also glad to know it works. Happy modding. Make some animations for masterz and he'll give you a beta in a couple years

Sean, I don't mean any disrespect, but I don't think you should take much of what people say here seriously. A lot is said solely because it can be said. I'll be honest in that I wouldn't be able to understand what it would be like to have people repeatedly say that a project you want to put out might not turn out. At the same time, life and making ends meet (should) always take priority. All I'm able to suggest would be the same thing I've told family in a somewhat similar situation- Do whatever you feel is right and necessary for yourself right now, and focus on those that support you. If you really want this project to continue, you will make it continue. Until then, who cares. Everything has always been on your terms.

I honestly am not sure about that error. That's the exact haloce.exe that I pulled from the folder I use for rec animations, and there's no reason for it to be causing an error, unless the string.dll stuff is causing it somehow. In that case, I wouldn't know specifically how to fix from that point. I guess I'll just mention how I did it starting from the begining. Sorry nut, I know it's a lot of back and forth installing and reinstalling-
Start with a completely fresh CE install -don't install the editing kit just yet- set to wherever you want your primary installation to be (mine was its own folder on the D:\ drive, but I'd imagine it's still fine in "...\program files\microsoft games\halo custom edition" or wherever else). Update it to 1.09 using that link above, or by whatever other means.
From there, COPY the entire halo custom edition folder somewhere like the desktop or something. Run the haloce.exe from the copied folder. It should start and run perfectly fine, so create a desktop link to it and name it "HCE Rec Anims" or something. Next, set up the recorded animations strings.dll stuff INSIDE THE COPIED FOLDER. Patxi's vid seems to walk through this very well. Just make sure that everything you're changing is inside the copied folder.
I have hek tools since I had it installed before I copied. There's no issue with or without, but it does mean a larger folder size.
Finally, do whatever you need to do to update the main folder to 1.10 (I think you do it manually), install hek, install OS, etc. Everything that requires installation continues to use the registered directory and will make changes to the main installation folder. You will still be able to run the separate folder's haloce.exe with the recorded animations .dll since it checks for necessary files inside the folder its located in (including maps, so make sure you also place any maps needed to make anims on or another ui.map inside the copied folder). When loading either halo, it will still share profile settings, gametypes, etc. since it gets those from the documents folder. No need for Betazzzzz, as now Masterz can easily swap between OS and stock 1.09.

Dennis may not want to have this app linked to here since it can possibly affect the games of more people than just the people using it, like tool_pro. I shouldn't speak for him though, as this is the first time I've heard of the app or the author (with a quick google only really mentioning it in a list here and on modacity), and honestly what do I know. It still sounds like a potentially useful tool, despite the supposed risks to the user and people within his sight.

Even on a non OS install? It may because it only runs on version 1.08 or 1.09, i dont remember which. It's probably 1.09. Use this update:

So use at our own discretion? Whether the virus warnings are false positives or not, it may be considered on par with tool_pro and may be prevented from uploading or linking here. That being said, I'm all for old tools being available to the public considering the fixed kornman app that was found yesterday. People could request for it with PMs, or maybe sparky would host it. If that program was made that long ago, who knows, maybe someone with the ability needed can write something better using that program and what is known now about the engine as a base.
Currently trying to rework some old stuff like the plasma repeater from this thread after viewing all those old tags on that hard drive.

Taking it slow as life still takes priority, but I feel I can design it to have better control over the rate of fire (and hopefully not as much desync) by using its rps decrease, overheat threshold, and round recharging mechanics all together. The reload exit animation keeps bugging out too, and I have no idea why. Had to record that about 10 times before it played properly.

Runtime-cache-viewer, less gui, more input. The values also don't get saved, but you don't have to re-compile after every change and go ingame to look.Edited by Imouto on Apr 8, 2016 at 01:32 AM

Rejoice, for we may now replace multiple animations without the application crashing, as well as optionally (but conveniently) retain the target animation's node checksum when injecting the source's data. This is Kornman00's "fixed" animation tag editor. It was passed around by individuals since Nov. 2004 (that's when it was created), but was never really archived anywhere. You know what the outcome is when that happens. It was so obscure that many people's only hope was to try to fix the exception-prone one publicly available here. Needless to say, people as far back as 2007, 2010, and as recent as 2014 were left disappointed.
That was until today. Long story short, it was found earlier today when comparing old tags while making space on an old drive so I could play with this new capture card I got. Didn't find much else worth keeping since it's mostly bloodgulch mod-tier stuff.

Completely unrelated, but do you guys like finding similarities in music? Sat through a couple hours of my stuff being played while going through the drive when some stuff would play and make me wonder "where have I heard that riff before?". I thought it was pretty fun to look into and could be worth a few smiles.
