Hey that's great, thanks ;)

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » Map Modifying Jun 19, 2008 11:29 AM (Total replies: 5)

oh lol, sorry, I should of been more specific.

Thanks for the reply, but what I meant (and it's completely my fault because I didn't state the question clear enough), was, how can I REMODEL a map, in 3ds Max.
And yes, I'm entirely working with CE. I wanted to take infinity, maybe bring the skin saturation down, modify the outer cliffs, removing them to make an island and add some urban objects.

Quick question.
Can anyone provide useful information, or resources on HOW to MODIFY an existing halo map?
I would like to modify Infinity, but not too sure how.
I have gone over and completed the basic tutorial provided with HEK.

Thanks.

Oh STFU wesman, you annoying d**k.
Honestly, you want to know why I'm not showing any bloody progress, ok here's why....

I'm 18 years old, I have a bunch of friends, and like to spend my "FREE TIME" with them.
I have a part time job that (with so many hours) seems like a full-time job.
I have a college course to power through, as I try to obtain a future career.
I need to participate in this "design team", for the money, and the skill.
I need to create a flash website for my clan and my portfolio.
I am limitting myself to my "computer" trying to resolve an addiction.
I like to play a bit of Halo to relax.
I like to watch a bit of TV to relax.
I go to see my dad for the weekend
I eat 3 meals a day.
Sleep for 8 hours a night.
Try to look for a bloody hobby...
INSTEAD OF SPENDING MOST OF MY TIME ARGUING WITH A MUCH HATED WESMAN.

Now, the last thing I will do, is progress through this map. There are maps that have spent 3 years as a WIP. A new post was made by the map maker every 1-2 months. The WIP was only 7 pages long, on a 3 year project. So yea, you too Destroyer, p**s off.
Once again (uh oh, here comes the age thing). You both, are just immature children. That's all. The only reason you come to this thread is for the DRAMA. You just want to argue. Cause a little trouble, be a little dramatic, ya know. Well here's your "drama". Make sure to read it over a few times to satisfy your dramatic cravings.

THE NEXT TIME I POST HERE, IT WILL INCLUDE PROGRESS OF THE MAP.
Peace out.

Yeh well I have decided to just ignore. So should the rest.

shoosh lol :)

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 19, 2008 06:31 PM (Total replies: 312)

Destroyer, what are you talking about. Or more specifically, what are you trying to express. That this map will be a total disaster? Did you ever stop to think (or just read what I've been saying to understand), that this map could be a success, that I may, actually, know what I'm doing.
I mean, I don't even know why I'm witting this, expressing anger and arguing against my taken offense. Because, you don't know what your talking about. You try to express your image of how "this will be a terrible map", but you back that up by saying pointless stuff like "cramed with landmarks is gonna...like...make the map all squshed up n stuf".
"oh nd AI iz gonna make it laggy. did ya ever think o that. cmooooooooooooon"

I don't know why it's taken me this long to realize, but some of you just don't listen. If you did actually read (and think about) what I have been saying throughout the past 8 pages, then that dum reply would of never been posted.
But I don't expect you to actually listen. Because most of you are just kids, and you havn't matured enough to the stage, where you can ANALYZE, UNDERSTAND AND EVALUATE at a mature level. So I don't blame you.

But, I don't want to have to recieve another post like that again. And there have been many of them, and I've had to work my hands away, typing 10 minuet replies. I am truly sick of it.
So from now on, I am just going to ignore them.

I expect you, or some others, to quote this reply, highlight parts in red, and start their own flamed up reply. And it's because I have said some things that have offended you, and others. And it's the only reason you will argue back. Because you have been personally offended. So please, save yourself some strength in your fingers, and don't reply to this. Because I already know what you are going to say. (another offense) .

Hey I have an idea.
It resolves the "shoot it" threat, and a symbol for remembrance.
We should put the twin towers in, but they appear as light. Like a hologram. So you can't shoot it. Ground zero will be closed off.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 18, 2008 01:04 PM (Total replies: 312)

Ok sorry for slightly loosing it lol.
I've had to deal with people doing this sort of thing countless times throughout this thread, and it's usually just an argument that follows. So I'm pretty edgy on this thread lol.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 17, 2008 08:28 PM (Total replies: 312)

Are you kidding lol?
Dude, for god sakes. I am not replicating NY street for street. Besides, If people are going to play new york, and were here, at the tip, which famously only carries the Brooklyn bridge and ground zero, then how much of a waste is that. People don't want to play this map, if they can't play in times square, or the crysler and empire state building. I AM BRINGING ALL FAMOUS LAND MARKS TOGETHER.
People need to read this whole thread before asking these pointless questions, or pointing out things that have already been pointed, or give advice that's already been given.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 17, 2008 01:42 PM (Total replies: 312)

well no need to get pushy or impatient. I'm quite busy, and this is only for a game, so it's not exactly my primary objective lol.
Speaking of this threads size, I have to say thanks for all the help so far. A lot of it is just arguing and some that has nothing relative to the topic, but so far it's been pretty great. I did say at the start, that I wasn't quite motivated to do this, but if I could see the help offered, then I may really get this underway. And I can say, thanks to your interests, that I feel like doing this.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 17, 2008 01:01 AM (Total replies: 312)

hahahahahha lol.
nah, well I don't think losing it is the issue. The fact that it's just as expensive as a black macbook on amazon, to be so much worse storage, graphics, and processor wise, and for what. A little thinness.
But the thinness, lightness and handy multitouch pad, should make graphic design a breeze. That's really all I could get out of it.
You would think it would be an easy decision choosing between a macbook, cheaper and better in performance and storage, to a macbook air. But I'm having a hard time lol.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 16, 2008 08:32 PM (Total replies: 312)

It won't be too war-torn. The map will include a few destructed areas to create adventure here and there.

Aside from this. This maps development may have to be postponed. I am going back to mac notebooks. And all mac users know, that apart from the macbook pro, apple laptops aren't the greatest solution to anything like this.
I'm a small person just now, only 18 at college. I am working into Graphic design, so I'll be working on graphic design. As far as I'm analyzing, I need something portable, and handy enough to work with Adobe applications, and that's basically it. So I'm thinking, it's best to go with a Macbook Air, or Macbook. Not sure yet. But if it's the original macbook, then I may be able to compact this project into it's system. It seems capable.

Anyway, point is, I'm getting a new comp, and it may not be able to follow up on this project.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 16, 2008 01:24 PM (Total replies: 312)

Very bad idea.
Ground zero will hold a closed off memorial for the twin towers.
If the towers were included, think about it. You'll get sick kids running around, launching rockets at it, laughing and saying "look at me, I'm a terrorist".

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 16, 2008 09:30 AM (Total replies: 312)

Aloha,

Well yes there's been a lot of arguing, but also good inside development. So far we have just been improving the initial idea, and planning out the map (picture on page 4).

Next step is to create a 3D rough of the map, just to outline the basic position of roads and buildings.

I am going to do that through 3ds max, but before hand, must brush up on modeling techniques and general 3D building.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 15, 2008 01:00 PM (Total replies: 312)

yeh, thats what i meant by
Quote: it pushes you (with lag)

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 15, 2008 01:26 AM (Total replies: 312)

The "moving vehicle" idea was a request, not a problem. I would like a hog or 2, harmlessly patrolling up and down broadway, with a marine driving, some guy on the right, and another on the turret. I haven't received any confirmation of making them "animated scenery" instead of AI. When playing h2_zanzibar, there's the rotating fan. When you come close to one of the wings, it pushes you (with lag). But, point is, the patrolling marines are just decoration, and shouldn't entertain with any interaction. Just like the animated fan in zanzibar.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 14, 2008 08:43 AM (Total replies: 312)

Ok.
What if it was slow animated scenery.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 13, 2008 10:37 AM (Total replies: 312)

Well, as I said before. When few marines are patroling the area, they will be accompanied with hogs and a couple of tanks. My idea is that they move very slowly, there for, shouldn't lag much, and wouldn't cause roadkill. If you did get hit by a hog for example, then it wouldn't have any damage effects on you, and it would just be pushing you along very slowly.

Halo CE Technical / Map Design » (WIP) New York May 11, 2008 09:39 PM (Total replies: 312)

That was discussed in a separate post, so I did miss something out. Well, it will be tested as animated scenery because from some understandings, people say it doesn't "lag much". But I can still see the worst of it, so another idea from someone was to make elevators, that when you walk into, teleport you to another floor, to another elevator. So it's basically just a 2 way teleport disguised as (still) elevators.

I'm doing my research into devices, cause I'm not too sure on what they are.
