That's the problem though. While I don't believe it should be a dull texture, textures that become scratched or battered should have less specualr intensity in those areas because they are most likely places to catch dirt or where the finish has been rubbed or scraped off and would leave imperfections in the metal. Having everything shine takes away the fact that it is metal. Now looking back at some things, it appears some of the larger gouges have a lower sp[ecular level, but areas on the flat in some spaces like the shoulder plating and other large plated areas should have a brushed sort of feel so it's like they are worn. The way they are now, it almost looks like he just wen't in for a fresh coat of gloss paint on some parts. I just think perhaps the specualr, or whatever layer or whatnot you are using for the specular, should have more contrast in it to discern worn unreflective areas from places that should be more reflective.
I'm not really a fan of classic versions myself because of one fatal flaw. Bungie made a huge error in judgement for original Halo. 500 years in the future and the assault rifle is 10 times LESS accurate than any today? 'Splain me that! WTF UNSC Y U NO KEEP GUNZ WIT SHOOT RITE!?!?!?. xD The later Halo games started to get it right though thank god. If I was given that gun in H1 by the UNSC, I would find the nearest museum and get even an AK over that trash.
This is quite possibly the most playable, AND aesthetically pleasing map I have seen in MANY a year. I'm not even going to make recommendations TBH because I can see you have an idea for the gameplay and with the limits of the Halo engine, you have done a tremendous job at layout of everything shown so far IMO. I am not sure on the weapon placements of course as of yet since I do believe you haven't shown those yet, but I got to say dude, if you populate this as well as you mapped it, I simply can't wait to play it with others. I am interested to see how you will populate for other gametypes such as Race and KOTH especially. Really make sure to put a lot of mental effort into where to place everything such as race points and hills. If you do, I have a feeling this map will be simply incredible.
For some reason the metal is looking plastic-like. For as much damage and grime as that thing seems to have taken, it is shining WAY too much. Post the specular used please. Also, what cube are you using. Something is making it look off to me.
I agree, even if not to be used in a continuation of the map, a decent model can always be used for other maps. Cropped here, inserted there.
Quote: --- Original message by: Jesse I vaguely remember getting insta-banned the second I joined their server for aimbotting. I don't aimbot.
DG clan has always been the crappiest server hosting clan out there. TBH, this guy was lucky to HAVE an admin on at all. When I used to play a lot and they actually had a few people on here and there, they would kick or ban ANYONE who did better than them. that's why I like to stick to the CE servers if I go the non-custom route. The players on those servers are way better to play with too. You sometimes get people who actually speak English! WHODATHUNK?!?!?!
I still am at a loss for why the makers of Custom Edition added the original maps. If you want to play those, you should do so in Halo regular not CE. Besides, they lag less in regular and are just as modable.

I almost thought I was the only one who was getting pissed he kept doing that.
I saw another thread or two about this. I think there is a patch or something to make sure it doesn't happen in any resolution.
Quote: --- Original message by: Maniac1000 stl check fails, never use it.
The later versions of 3ds have an STL check "like" feature that is a billion times better. XView works MUCH better for me because it doesn't mess up faces it just plain-as-day points out errors or possible errors in the category you are looking for ex. being open edges, overlapping, etc. If you are a later 3ds user, XView is where it is at if you ask me unless you can find a 3rd party script that is better.
If you hadn't heard from another thread where he explained this, Dennis has been around little lately due to others in the family with health problems. Due to how long he has been away, I am assuming they are serious problems.

You forgot to add "superawesomebetter" hard drive.

Agreed. I'll probably never switch from Nvidia, or for that matter EVGA. Such fantastic quality.

except OS has the ability to, you know, disable graphical effects.
I think the main thing that "divides the community" is that OS won't work for pirated copies of halo. too bad nobody has 5-10 USD to spend on an 11+ year old game :C
Lol. I was thinking the exact same thing the minute people even argued about it splitting the community. That is the only thing that will split it up really other than the hand-full of people that couldn't get their crap together and buy a new PC over the last 10 freaking years.

There are approximately 60 items in the queue that need to be processed. I can manage the forum remotely but I need to be at my desk to process the files and haven't been there much for awhile due to an illness in the family. I hope to be home soon.
Ah. Well if it was me then that would take precedence as well. Hope all goes well.
For a background, I recommend getting a bunch of people in-game and have an action shot somewhere near the middle turn with the camera view at/near the floor looking up. Shoot and throw grenades and all sorts of haywire then take the photo, add cool affects in Photoshop, to make things look even more insane and presto! Also, 2 people should be looking like they have their sights flat out directed at each other and they should be the focal point of the photo. You may also have to play with colors to make it so the actual post-game carnage can be read while the photo is there. Maybe slight desaturation in Photoshop as well as a fade affect either from bottom (dark) to top (clear) or having a slight motion blur on the edges where the edges slightly go dark.
