some programs(E.G. Adjutant 2) use it, it provides some functions and other things. i am not sure how to explain it , but if you want more information... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dotnet_framework you can get it from here: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=17851 Edited by afD2345 on Jan 30, 2013 at 12:57 PM
Quote: --- Original message by: RushI used gimp of course. I know this might sound weird.... but if I can't do a favor can you make the bitmap and send it to me? From my basic bitmap knowledge I can assume that it might not be that hard to export it as a bitmap file do what XlzQwerty1 said and it will work Edited by afD2345 on Jan 4, 2013 at 12:43 PM
the bitmap's size must be power of 2 dimension.
and this is how you know that tool is making bitmap(error(s) is (are) in red:
Micro$oft Windows [Version 6.1.7601] Copyright (c) 2009 Micro$oft Corporation. All rights reserved.
C:\Program Files\Micro$oft Games\Halo Custom Edition>tool bitmaps new Couldn't read map file './toolbeta.map' ### wutisthis.tif ==> !!WARNING!! bitmap with greater than 1-bit alpha being compressed as DXT1 <= = skipping bitmap with non-power-of-two dimensions (#800x#800#1)
C:\Program Files\Micro$oft Games\Halo Custom Edition> folder called "new" is in data folder and tool will create folder called "new" into tags folder.
and what program did you use to edit the bitmap? if you used (micro$oft) paint, then that is the problem. you should get GIMP (better) or paint.net(more easy to use)

Quote: --- Original message by: Rush ... Can I use cmd to make it a bitmap file or should I use tool? I want to know what's the command for cmd. ...
you will always use tool to make things (E.G. bitmaps) for halo ce. when you type "tool build-cache-file [pathtolevel]" you will tell to tool to make cache (.map) file. if you type "tool" to cmd, it will list all commands (for tool). if you would like to make bitmaps you would type "tool bitmaps bitmaps levels\test\tutorial\bitmaps" to cmd this bitmap extractor should work Edited by afD2345 on Jan 2, 2013 at 03:50 PM
Quote: --- Original message by: Jaz ... So that leads me to two alternative theories: Harddrive's broken or I've got a virus. I've run virus scans with Windows's built-in anti-virus and AVG though, so a virus is doubtful. I've also used my old/dad's computer to scan any suspicious files that I might download with Kaspersky.
So harddrive's the other likely culprit other than the graphics card. And harddrives are hard to replace when you've got a ton of programs installed and files that you've spent weeks downloading. Need to work out how to get Windows 8 over to a new HDD without losing everything. (Of course I could just partition it all but quite difficult when the partitions could be at risk of corruption) ...
you can clone hard disks with clonezilla, here is tutorial:
http://clonezilla.org/show-live-doc-content.php?topic=clonezilla-live/doc/03_Disk_to_disk_clone
Malwarebytes Anti-Malware is good anti-malware software
also, do NOT ever have 2 or more Anti-Virus programs at same time, it is very bad idea. i am not sure what you mean by "Windows's built-in anti-virus", but if you mean windows security essentials, remove it, but if you mean windows defender, it is not anti-virus, it is anti-malware program, so it does not matter. Quote: --- Original message by: Jaz I'm on Windows 8, but I doubt that's the issue as I did manage to play Halo for a while without any issues for about a week. Then for unknown reasons, it decided to glitch out.
micro$oft might have released an update that messed up something. it would not be the first time they did...

Eliteslasher, this isn't a Windows 8 opinions thread. As has been said, including in my OP, Windows 8 is almost certainly not the issue here.
This thread is concerning the issue that I can't play Halo without weird glitches.
In response to the others, I've got the latest versions of DirectX.
The annoying thing is I do check things like that often, so it can't be something simple like that. I wish it was something simple that I'd missed.
have you reinstalled halo? it might fix the problem. and i recommend to install windows 7, because it is proven to be quite stable windows? stable? hahaha and that it can run halo, without problems. and because the way micro$oft fixes bugs: they release bad product and then they will sometimes release updates, which makes it look like that micro$oft would actually care. run game in safemode and set lower graphics settings and then run game in normal mode (not in safemode).

also, install ALL updates. Edited by afD2345 on Dec 17, 2012 at 02:44 PM
there is no halo pc (Combat Evolved) content on this site. you should reinstall halo Combat Evolved and update it. i'm not 100% sure, but i think that "haloded.exe" is for halo pc.
Halo Custom Edition is free "addon" for halo pc (Combat Evolved for pc) you can download it at here: http://hce.halomaps.org/index.cfm?fid=410 when it askes for product key, type your halo pc product key. then go to your Halo Custom Edition's directory (I.E. C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Halo Custom Edition) and follow this tutorial , if you don't have "haloceded.exe", you should update your game by runing "haloupdate.exe" which is in same folder.
Halo Custom Edition DOES NOT replace halo pc, it has its own folder.

your globals.globals doesn't specify falling damage or multiplayer information; get new globals.globlas or fix your current tag.
also, have you set your ui.scenario's type to main menu? and you can't have any spawn points on your ui(.scenario)
Edit 0: HEK+ some times messes up and may corrupt tags, (it is not the case now) do NOT overwrite your tags. Edited by afD2345 on Dec 8, 2012 at 02:22 PM
You can fix dropbox links by removeing the protocol (HTTPS) from the beginning of links I.E.

check that your variables and/or dormant(scripts that wait for wakeing) scripts are correctly set. I.E. all used variables and dormant scripts must exsist. (E.G. foo + 7, will fail if you do NOT have variable called "foo"). in Blam! Script variables are called "globals". also it would help a lot if you would post your script... you can't *always* use extracted scripts, without editing them first. edit0:*is in green* Edited by afD2345 on Oct 20, 2012 at 09:13 AM
you can find some features (not all) here BTW. you can not use OS_HEK to mod for vanilla Halo Custom Edition (Halo Custom Edition without open sauce) ; you can not play open sauce maps (*.yelo) on vanilla Halo Custom Edition. imo. you should start with vanilla Halo Custom Edition. edit0: here you can find more features and other stuff Edited by afD2345 on Oct 19, 2012 at 12:11 PM

you have open edges (=holes) on your map, and halo does not like that. you must seal those holes. you can import [map name here].wrl to gmax / 3ds max, (it is in your Halo Custom Edition dir), it shows where your map has holes. Edited by afD2345 on Oct 12, 2012 at 01:43 PM
i think you need to run it on vista compatibility mode, so right click on halo2.exe (or what halo 2 vista is called, can't remember), go to tab called "compatibility" and then select "vista compatibility mode" from the drop down list.
you can try using virtual computer, but it can cause some problems... (E.G. https://www.virtualbox.org/wiki/Downloads ) Edited by afD2345 on Oct 6, 2012 at 12:49 PM
