Has anyone heard from the dude (cant remember his name) who ported the halo 2 character anims? I thought he'd be releasing the halo 2 tags around this time.

My guess is that they'll just be preset marines, i don't think he'll go through the trouble of making sure every single marine that you left will be the exact same when you get back. Or if they'll even be alive. Makes me think of that moment where you leave the marines in the command deck of the ship for 5 minutes and you come back and they're slaughtered.

Between the events of those missions i'd say there's a fat chance most of them will survive the flood AND the covenant.

It might also explain why they're adding missions to the campaign, like the mission about rescuing marines and defending alpha base? from the flood and covenant.


The problem doesn't lie there, even if i create a squad encounter sapien will refuse to load any tags i throw at it. weapons, vehicles, .bsp or any other models.

Edit: Would windows 10 have anything to do with this by any chance? Running it in compatibility mode only makes sapien freeze without warning if i touch the properties or tool window.

There are a lot of secrets that were "hidden" strictly so other people wouldn't have access to create new content.

Those type of forums strictly shunned those who didn't know a lick of modding. IIRC there was a mediafire or github somehere with a ce pc multiplayer prototype, but it was nothing but numbers and a couple ai on bloodgulch, probably the scripts from xbox's halo at work.


title is self explanatory. i've recently built a new system so naturally i had to reinstall hek+ and it seems sapien won't register any tags that i've already extracted. for example, if i tried to add a new actor variant, when i go to do so there's no conformation or anything and the variant doesn't show up in the drop down list for ai. same goes for weapons and vehicles. i'm a little lost here.

since i've had this problem before i did what i was told all a year ago and move your primary tags folder to the base halo ce folder. Microsoft games -> halo ce -> tags etc.

I extracted most of the tags from levels a10-b50, mostly characters and weapons. I went on sapien under tutorial.scenerio and attempted to place ai down. when i tried to select the tag for sapien it said that i attempted to open a file with missing tags or something and to contact a bungie employee. It was marine_armored but white text popped up one the screen saying im missing sarge_scream or something like that.

i don't think i have the tag folder in the right spot. its under (x86) - Microsoft games - Halo Custom Edition - Tags etc. I might just delete the folder and re-extract everything from every level.


I'm not sure if this goes in the right thread, but i need to see if this can be done. I just need all the default enemy/friendly tags imported into each of the campaign levels with their respective variants.

For instance. Replacing marines with the infected flood marines in level a10. I would try to do this myself but HEK does not like me what so ever. I've tried Eschaton after looking for it and remembered that it can't (for whatever goofy reason) open CE maps. My original plan was to switch out different variants and replace the covenant with the flood entirely which failed, which leaves me no choice to question the community.


EDIT: Found a way to do it. Nvm.

hopefully we're provided newer editing tools this year like we were promised a couple of years ago. majority of the users can't run hek and tools alike it because of newer computer systems.

Title, i figured you could do it somehow with Eschanton. I want to mix and match custom weapons around and the only thing i've been able to do so far is create a funky campaign with marines firing odd bullets out of normal guns. A step by step tutorial for this kind of thing would be appreciated.

I've checked the CE maps page for a month now. No new maps or anything, not even an Halo Monthly Update on the Ce3 channel. What's going on and why is it happening? Where is all the cool stuff from ce3? Heretic Hunt? SOI's modified campaign? Firefight?

Please tell me they weren't all wip?


Levels like A50, I don't think you can edit a campaign map, or any .map file for that matter.

1. I want to switch all the marine's bipeds into the halo 3 styled marines, including halo 3 weaponry.

2. Thought there was, I use Eschanton to switch some of the bipeds around.

3. It told me to install .net framework 1.4.223 or something, I couldn't find it.

4. Again, I think sapien only allows .scenario files to be edited. I could be wrong though, hope im wrong.

Edit: Holy moly it actually works now! I can finally use hek+ without dying, alright.
Where do I navigate to swap the tags for something else?

Say I wanted to switch the Marines with Halo 3 styled marines. Any way I can do this with a simple program? If not, then how do I? I don't have to recompile the entire bsp and map do I? I would prefer any method available, even if its something frowned upon/hacky. HEK+ Won't install because I need a .net framework that's pretty much non existent at this point. Any help with problem #1&2 would be appreciated.

Recently started to attempt to get into the map making process again, came back from a vacation and updated to windows 8.1 a while ago. Now sapien won't even open. I have it on compatibility with Windows XP, its running as administrator. It worked fine a year ago, now it crashes whenever I try to load tutorial.scenerio. Is there in any way an alternate, compatible, program I can use?

Figured that out a while ago. Thanks for the information. What about switching one of the enemies to an enemy team aka human. Or if I wanted to make the crewmen on the bridge rampant would I need to edit a squad file?

Would I also be able to import and replace tags? Ex: If I wanted to switch out a weapon the marine was holding into another tag?

Oh thank you, I've been tinkering with sapein and I think I have the basics down. I will try this instead.

Edit: I replaced Keys with a grunt on A10 to see if it worked and I got an exception error.

Hi. I'm really new here and have a minimal mind in modding. All im trying to do is switch a biped for the basic stock campaign maps in halo CE. I was wondering if there was a way to do this without opening 15+ programs and saving a cache, or so I've learned apparently that's what it takes to modify a map. A stock map, mind you. Is there a line of code or a script that I can switch out a variable for a biped? Like if I wanted to switch all the marines with elites? Where can I locate these values and swap em? I have HEK+, Sapien, gurrila or whatever that is. Its all so confusing.
