Again, I post a topic. I probably shouldn't, but hey, here it is.
***Skip this part if you are not an idiot***
This topic was abandoned because of senseless flamers and trolls.
Read the first post if you want to understand what I want this for.
Hunter. If you don't have anything useful to say, I will report you, so shut up.
Those of you reading this post who have nothing of any use, nothing helpful, nothing... constructive to say, do not say it. I will not tolerate any this time. The authors of messages like 'Phail topic is full of phailure' (You know who you are) or 'This is pathetic' 'You suck' 'Ripping is for losers', etc. will be reported to Dennis. If you have a problem, as I said previously, start your own topic, form a group, host a fundraiser, or go kill yourselves, it doesn't matter to me. Just do not screw up this thread like the last one.
If you have a serious problem with it, take it up with Gearbox and Bungie, or someone.
Alright, finally, this is what I want to ask, and for others to ask their own (sensible) questions about. How do you actually rip? How is it done? What do you require? How are they coverted into 3DS MAX? And so on.
An Xbox 360
Halo 2 (Xbox)
A computer (Obviously)
Halo Custom Edition
This topic is not just for us, but also for others like me who wish to learn.
Warning: Those who would think of ripping as a shortcut to content, don't. Try to create your own where possible, as it is much more fun, and different, that way.
I meant the ones in the 'movies' section.
My edit referred to those exact downloadable ones you linked me to.
Thanks for replying anyway.

The point people are missing from my point here: It's for a machinima. I am not looking for a 'sense of pride'. I want accuracy, in order to present the story I have to tell better.
When I start actually mapping, I'm fine with (In fact, I want to) creating custom content. In said machinima, what I'm looking for is a balance of ripped and custom.
Another thing is, when I make a map, custom or ripped, I am not looking for 'a sense of pride'. I am simply trying to create something enjoyable.
Take Forge for example. The fact that most maps are made on pre-existing land, rather than, say, built on the white expanse of emptiness when you glitch out of a map, does not make them any less fun to play. If someone used, for example, part of the base in Standoff, unedited, instead of creating a base out of crates and boxes, does this make them a cheater, a leecher, a lazy user of other peoples work?
I don't think so.
If someone uses the default Halo PC Biped (Spartan) in their map, which is full of custom content, and is amazing and fun to play, does this lessen the skill of the creator? The biped may as well be ripped, only it was already there.
I say it again. If you are going to argue, create your own thread and do so in there. For example, make a thread like 'Is ripped content bad?', 'Ripped=fail?', 'Views on rips' or something.
People could express their views there. Not here.
Hunter, I have been ignoring you since my last post, so I missed your stupid rant up there.
I should have posted the entire rule? Okay one, why? And two, that does not refer to 'just flaming', and three, you pretty much are either flaming or trolling, and also, (Because your useless comments are SOOO helpfull and informative), you are trolling. I looked in other threads, not in search of evidence, just interest, and was surprised to find you making senseless hate spam about ripping, such as the COD4 thread.

Yet again, another one.
I'll put this out so you can understand it.
Read... the... first... post. I... want... it... to... be... accurate... for... my... machinima. And... it... isn't... as... easy... as... you... think... it... is.
Also, read my other post, and maybe the forum rules?

If you don't have something nice to say, don't say it.
Seriously. If you haven't got any advice to offer, go annoy someone who cares. But first, actually read the topic, okay?
EDIT: You think ripping is stupid? You think it's worthless and easy? It isn't. The end result is much more accurate, but it's harder. I am willing to take the challenge IN ORDER TO IMPROVE MY MACHINIMA. We will be making our own maps, that. Is. The. Point.
But, we are going to texture them, and populate them with, Halo 3 content.
If you have a problem with my topic, talk to Dennis.
EDIT 2: Again aklass = person with sense.

This looks like it will be awesome. I could body act and pilot, as my mic broke (Sad face). Although, I may be getting my new one soon...
Any form of acting, I can do it.
I could help with Forging and I could act...
Part- Herman or Anderson
When does filming start?
Add me on XBL when you are ready.
It does depend on what kind of character he is...

Welcome to HaloMaps!
Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be any good cheap cards...
It's good you want to make Machinima, but you need to be prepared to spend money.
Unless one of you guys found something awesome for the price, I don't know.
I could scene or pilot... I love flying!
I could be the OTHER scene actor...
Or something... Maybe Shian? Who is Shian? What does he sound like?
EDIT: Or maybe an ODST? I AM 15, and have a pretty diverse (I mean, I can do impressions) voice...
Edited by Some Dude on Aug 4, 2008 at 06:27 AM
First off, get wireless.
I'm sure there are plenty of people wanting to act for you.
Edited by Some Dude on Aug 4, 2008 at 06:21 AM
I could do minor voice and body acting for you.
I'll stay with you as long as I can, but I have a commitment to MY machinima!
Anyway, in the meantime, I can help you!
What's your Production Team's name?
PM me or something.
I saw The Halo CE Chronicles Episodes 1-4 on YouTube... And I can't find ep. 5 anywhere!
I tried this site, but the videos don't actually play...
I had to skip to 17... So now I'm like... 'Dinosaurs? WTF?'
Could Dennis (Or someone) post all of the eps. on YouTube? Wouldn't that sort the bandwidth problems, too?
EDIT: Well, I found the downloadable ones... But the colour is all messed for some reason...
Edited by Some Dude on Aug 4, 2008 at 06:12 AM
Thank you aklass. Again, my post was not read.
Also, I have seen (On numerous occasions) posts of Hunter's like: 'RIIIIIP!' 'Takes no skill', and so on. So stop being a troll and please contribute, because you are just wasting our time.
Finally, back to the topic on hand.
How do you actually begin ripping, say, a biped?
You said ripping was 'pathetic'... I'd say that was aimed at H3MT.
I'm not saying you are bragging, either, and, as I have no idea who you are, and nor do you me, you said 'you basicly did nothing GOOD at all...' It seems like you meant Halo 3 content wasn't good enough or something... Forget it.
By the way, you have not one clue as to who I am, or my skill (Or lack thereof). How do either of you know I can't model? Simply because I'm new to the forum does not mean I'm new to Halo CE, or 3DS, for that matter.
You think calling me pathetic isn't abusive?
I find it so, and the way you burst out like that, in between me and Disaster...
Anyway, I can model. But I cannot, however, rip. That is what I am here learning to do. Having a knowledge in both fields would give me a greater chance of reproducing the certain aspects of Halo 3 that I am looking for.
Anyway, it is in no way related to, or up to, you how new members learn, or in what order. So what if I learned to rip before I learned to model?
Everyone, this is exactly what got the other topic closed. Now, could we stop fighting and discuss the topic at hand? I should say, if you are here to either tell people how they should run their lives, or here to just complain about certain teams or methods, don't post, find another topic, or, alternatively, you could read the first post, and possibly come up with something useful to say.
EDIT: If you want to have a debate about ZTeam, CMT, or H3MT, do it in your own topic, not mine.

I don't care how great he is, he shouldn't just spontaneously flame without even giving a reason like that. If he had read the first post, maybe he wouldn't have... But he didn't, and that is stupid.
I never said he couldn't model, I said he shouldn't say people are 'pathetic, pathetic', without even understanding what he's talking about. Meaning, he makes it sound so easy, and we are downgraded as modders, mappers, whatever because of it.
If someone like Tiamat or Bitterbanana came you and basically said 'you suck, oh my god, you suck' for no reason, what would YOU do, regardless of skill?
Okay Disaster, sorry. Anyway, you were saying...
Ummm... If you are refering to me asking him questions, I'm only getting advice from someone with experiance... Second, if you are refering to the fact I wish to rip from Halo 3, well, you should have read my first post... It's for a machinima.
Anyway, if it's sooo pathetic, you try it. Go on, make a map, an exact replica, without help and from scratch. What's that? You can't? Oh dear.
And I never said I enjoyed it.
And what don't I achieve?
And why isn't Halo 3 good?
Perhaps (Maybe), you should have actually thought for once, before insulting me and the members of H3MT...
Also, don't mindlessly flame. What do you ACHIEVE, why do you even ENJOY IT, you're pathetic (Pathetic).
Other guy- It's not illegal unless you put it in another game and sell it.

EDIT: Thanks, Disaster, but it's okay.
Edited by Some Dude on Jul 31, 2008 at 10:53 AM
Thanks for the info.
Although, as I said, bipeds are the most important... Is it possible?
I was afraid of that... Hmmm...
Have H3MT actually done a map yet? I'm not asking for it, just wondering how long it took, and what map it was...
Also, I should mention that we MAY not need actual Halo 3 maps, more the textures and scenery to make our own...
I'm still considering doing Standoff though... We're about... let's see... well 15 strong so far, but there's a problem... only two of us have decent experiance modding Halo CE, and only one who has actually created something...
I was hoping the others could acquire the skill necessary to complete such a job... And they will. I think we'll just film in Halo 3 for now... Although the required modding only takes place late in the first series, so I'm still hopeful. The absolute top priority is bipeds, though. Such as an Elite Ascetic, or Marine ODST... Is THAT possible?
You couldn't make (Or dig up) a tutorial on how to extract stuff? I have never used XSATA for this purpose before...
Also, would Halo 2 mapping be easier?
Thanks for the help!
Well... I think we could handle it... Maybe...
Once we all are... shall we say... more skilled in the Halo CE game, we'll give it a shot.
It's no problem, most of us (Not me!) don't come into it until way later on... Plenty of time!
Quite a few of us are new... It saddens me.
Right now, I'm actually on a friend's laptop, downloading Halo CE and maps, tools and HEK for him...
How much work will it be? Would it be a full team job? Or possible for maybe two or three people to do?
Edited by Some Dude on Jul 31, 2008 at 10:01 AM
By 'serious porting', what do you mean?
I'm up for that if necessary.
Okay... What happened?
Nobody has answered my question properly... Stop flaming each other, and just tell me if it's possible!
Anyway, if it is at all possible, could someone do a tutorial or something? Thanks!
Hi DEEhunter. Nobody answered my question on ModHalo either, did they?
Can ya guess who I am?
(Off topic) What happened to Halo CE Chronicles? I couldn't find any ep. above 4... Except 12-18, but I don't want to skip that far...
Edited by Some Dude on Jul 31, 2008 at 09:28 AM
EDIT: By the way, if it's impossible to rip maps, it would be fine as long as you could rip textures... We are up for making the maps ourselves...
